This short article presents a structure through which modifications in the management of HIV\/AIDS dangers amongst British gay men may be conceptualized. Three distinct durations of danger administration are described. First, a 'baffled' duration in which the aetiology of AIDS and its social effect were improperly recognized. Second, a 'somatic' period is described in which discussions connecting HIV threat to the body became prevalent (adhering to the 'exploration' of the HIV infection). Ultimately a 3rd, 'technical' duration is defined which emphasizes the effect of current social and medical modern technologies in the contemporary management of both HIV as well as AIDS dangers. The privatization, fluidness and advancement of HIV as well as help 'threats' are discussed with particular reference to notions of security medicine, processes of 'othering' and also the attribution of both obligation and blame.
