HOUSTON-- Harris County replacements have billed a former found guilty with funding murder in the fatality of a male they claimed he targeted for burglary using a gay dating app.
Benjamin Davis, 29, has a history of physical violence. He served two years in prison for choking a family member in 2018.
Deputies said he opened an account on an application called Grindr to locate people to rob.
"He learned from other people, people we do not recognize, that it's rather very easy to enter into individuals's houses on this app and rob them," stated Aide Harris Area District Attorney Chandler Raine.
According to deputies, Davis informed detectives that he set up to fulfill a guy, identified as Victor Najera Betanzos, at the man's west side home, seemingly to have sex, but the real motive was break-in.
According to replacements, Davis told them he turned on Betanzos as soon as he remained in his house, knocking him subconscious. Authorities said Davis told detectives that he used a headscarf to suffocate him. Deputies stated Davis informed investigatives that he put bleach on the Betanzos' body in an initiative to damage evidence, as well as repelled in the dead man's truck after taking his iPhone and also iPad.
Deputies claimed they spotted Davis in the truck as well as arrested him Saturday.
District attorneys stated social media sites applications are making it simpler for bad guys to target victims as well as urged care.

Davis is charged with resources murder. He's being hung on a $500,000 bond.
