This study therefore asssed patients’ preference for, and satisfactn wh nursg re provid by male nurs at the medil and surgil wards of Komfo Anokye Teachg Hospal [KATH]. An ferential cross-sectnal study sign, which the prevalence of a ndn among an intified populatn is termed, was ed. Usg nvenience samplg, 150 rponnts who meet certa practil creria and are available and willg to participate were sampled. Data om a ntext-based rearch stment on the opn, preference and satisfactn of patients wh male nursg were analysed g χ2 tt, Mann Whney U tt, ordal logistic regrsn and logistic regrsn. The study dit that more femal than mal had ever been attend to by a male nurse for the perd nsired by the study, and femal scribed male nurs as pole and urteo and were fortable wh their treatment. Beg sgle [OR = 0.111, 95% CI (0.013–0.928)] and profsg Islamic fahs [OR = 36.533, 95% CI (2.116–630.597)] were functns of rponnts’ preference for a male nurse. Signifintly too, affiliatg to a relig sect (OR = 2.347, 95% CI [0.076–1.630]) and beg ted (OR = 1.387, 95% CI [0.040–0.615]), were associated wh higher odds of fallg one of the higher tegori of satisfactn wh nursg re provid by male nurs as agast the lower tegori. Although maral stat, relig affiliatn and tnal level were the signifint predictors of patients’ preference for, and satisfactn wh re provid by male nurs, the effect of the other variabl should not be overlooked. The fdg disprov assertns on the negative effect of relign on male nurs. It is remend that public awarens be created on the role of male nurs the healthre livery system to promote acceptance of genr diversy the nursg profsn.
