Ever sce the Yard of Ale closed 2009, there hasn’t been a dited gay bar Boulr. Enter DV8 Distillery which is somewhere between a gay bar and Burng Man. However, DV8 wants to strs that they aren’t exclively a gay bar.
Whether ’s a gay bar or a queer bar, don’t really matter, sce they wele anyone. It don’t matter if you’re gay or straight; they want to be the spot where people om different backgrounds n e together and form lastg bonds and memori at an enuragg place that’s ee om judgment. In many ways, the attu of DV8 is that of European techno clubs, where many started out as gay bars, but wele anyone who accepts that what happens wh s walls is not only accepted but protected (not to mentn the hoe and techno that emanat om their sound system).
Some may say that ’s surprisg that Boulr hasn’t had a gay bar, nsirg how progrsive is towards LGBTQ policy. Between The Yard of Ale closg and DV8 announcg that they were a dited queer space, the clost thg there was to a Boulr gay bar is the Facebook group, Boulr, CO Guerilla Gay Bar, which tak over bars for a night, once a month. Upg happengs clu the return of DV8’s Big Gay Wet and Wild event June, a fundraiser that rallied funds last year for Out Boulr County, and a Halloween party July featurg Dirty Circ, a seven-year anniversary bash that will rporate fire and flow and aerial shows and other performanc.
