THE GAY BATHHOE FIRE OF 1977

It dismays me to hear people praisg this film for s "sensive handlg" of the subject of homosexualy and the way challeng bigoted thkg on the subject – such thoughts n be found the ments sectn on this se and they dismay me bee sadly to some viewers this film may be the neart thg to "discsn" on homosexualy that they have had. It would certaly be nice to say that but one nnot help feel that this is not the realy and that, rather than g the c stereotyp as a vehicle to liver a msage to a tradnally homophobic fan-base, the film is actually g the msage to facilate lots of homosexual stereotyp, jok and cliché is what the film do throughout – wants to have s ke and then also get to eat .

What the rt of the film do is draw lghs om the fact that two straight characters have to "be gay" – which of urse means all the stereotypil stuff that we all know. So nobody wants to pick up the soap the shower (bee all a gay man needs to be aroed is the sight of someone's ass), dis mic is played, fger-snappg is everywhere and so on. Biel has an amazg body and that is pretty much what she is asked to do – be unrwear and look stunng, both of which she effortlsly do but nothg else film is not the awful piece of edy that some crics have said but is a simple, stereotypil edy about homosexual clichés that tri to jtify by havg a very basic msage that most people should have already learnt the 1990's.
