Ryan Gay of the SBCC men’s golf team shot a 6-unr par 64 to take the first-round lead of the 64th Santa Barbara Cy Golf Champnship on Saturday at the par-70 Santa Barbara Golf Club. Gay is three shots ahead of send-place Ethan Reddy, a former CIF-Southern Sectn golf champn om Villa Park, and two shots ont of fendg Cy champn Leo Metzger of San Mars High, Lako Losarah of Upland, Mch Mart of San Luis Obispo and Connor McManigal of Santa Barbara.

Gay, a three-time wner of the Mae Am, will be petg the event for the first time eight years. But former pro Ryan Gay, who won three tim four years as a young hotshot, is makg his return to the state’s premier amatr event, which te off Tuday at Kebo Valley Golf Club Bar Harbor for the first of three stroke-play rounds.
A Garder High grad, Gay won the Mae Am 2008, 2010 (at Kebo Valley) and 2011, the last when he was 20 years old and playg llege golf at the Universy of New Mexi.
